Laurie (pen name for Angeli Hemandas) finds the regency period fascinating, between 1811 and 1820, when Britain was at its most stylish and most decadent. It was a time of massive changes in culture and society. The haute ton ruled the day, when young debutants came to London for a season to search for husbands or simply experience the glitz and glamour of social functions.
Born and raised in the Philippines, she started writing novellas during her sophomore year, passing chapters around for the amusement of her classmates. In pursuit of her passion for the arts, she visits London where she enrols at the prestigious Christie’s Education. She fell in love with the city, the rich culture of British aristocracy and the Romantic period of art. Gathering inspiration from some of her experiences, she launched her first novel Charlotte’s Journey in 2013, and revives it on amazon in 2021 with a succession of stories surrounding her heroine, Charlotte Ramsey.
In the pipeline are other books with subjects as diverse as new adult fantasy, medieval romance, and medieval fantasy adventure.
When not writing, she paints, splashing colour on a canvas most Sunday afternoons.
